Premiere Magazine is full of it...

Thanks to Amid at Cartoon Brew for posting this.

"This film is a mishmash of pedantic narration and erratic tone (the finale's soul-sucking demon gives the death of Bambi's mom a run for the money in the childhood trauma department), and, frankly, some of the animated sequences now seem dangerously akin to screensavers. " - A.D. (Premiere Magazine)

According to Premiere magazine's "20 Most overrated movies of all time" - Fantasia made the cut.

WHAT????

Come on, please!

Get real!

(in John McEnroe's voice) You can not be serious!

And all those other dumb struck sayings. Thats a giant Capital "Double-U, Tee, Eff".

I know they put the whole discaimer up front saying everybody has their own personal tastes but I still don't see how this masterpiece can actually be considered overrated?? My opinion, its simply beautiful, those dancing mushrooms, the hippos, Mickey. Everything about Fantasia is simply without a doubt amazing stuff.
No question about it. The people that made this film were all geniuses (genii).

Last week till holiday

It's Monday morning and we are into our last week of work before a well deserved three week holiday.
Which will include a trip to my brother's place, Christmas with the family, New Year's party with friends, and a spot of fly fishing with my gran. All before the 8th January. It's quite a schedule but it will be relaxing, trust me.

I have all my Christmas shopping finished, nearly everything wrapped. The tree is up and the lights are turned on, the Xmas wreath is on the door - yep, I am pretty much all Christmas ready this year.

The only other thing I have left to do is my Holiday project. I bought a book on the weekend which I am aiming to get through by the end of the hols. Its not a novel or anything, more a training book with excercises (nothing to do with fitness). So we shall see in the New Year if it helped any.

To all my friends and family that read this, Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

Almost Holidays

Straight after finishing Mo for "Pimp your Ride" featuring Gasolina by Daddy Yankee, I got to be involved in another spot with old Daddy Y.
The Pepsi Mexico holiday music video.
Great fun but too much work in two and a bit weeks.
Watch it HERE (right click to download)
I rigged and animated Rudolph, not my best work but there are two shots I'm happy with.

Then after that before I could breathe, I gave Mo a Captains hat and a plane to fly for Mango airlines Vodacom promotion or Vodacom's Mango airline promotion - whatever.
A few print campaigns and a couple of other small jobs and that brings us to today.

I finally had a weekend off last weekend. Did nothing - ah, wait, I lie!
I went to watch Happy Feet on the super duper digital projected Il Grande theatre at Montecasino. WOW!!! simply stupifying... I could not believe I had been in the dark ages for so long, watching that yecchy thing called film. BLECH! If you get a chance, please go see it, and even better, go to Monte - its AMAZING!

Can't wait for the next digital movie that will play there.
