Slumdog Millionaire

With South Africa being bowled out for 138 runs, at Durban in the 2nd Test against Australia, it was good to see at least a few South African cricketers doing something right over the weekend... unfortunately it was in a movie.

During Danny Boyle's "Slumdog Millionaire" a scene revolves around a cricket match on television where India's Sachin Tendulkar gets run out for 99 and it just so happens they are plaing against South Africa. Andre Nel is the bowler that one first gets a glimpse of as the ganglord changes the channel of the television.
In the next scene Sachin gets run out which greatly upsets the ganglord Javed
A bit of trivia regarding the match, this ODI was actually played in Ireland and with the help of Jacque Kallis, a nicely hit 91 runs off 116 balls, we won the match by four wickets. However we went on to lose the three match series 2-1... oh well.

One problem with using such a well known cricket match, and it's well known because only four Indians have been out on 99 in ODI's and only five batsmen in the world have been run out, is that it can be dated - 26th June 2007 in fact, and such create factual errors in the movie.
The cheque that Jamal receives at the end of the movie is dated 2005, even though the movie is supposedly set in 2006 and the game in 2007, and the commentator announces that the game is being played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai but in fact it was played in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
