Garmin Salmon
We finally finished the CG salmon job I supervised, shot on location in Hazyview and finished at BlackGinger. A great learning experience in dealing with underwater shoots and creating CG fish. Luckily we had a good portion R&D'd from Free Willy but there were still tricky bits we overlooked and discovered on our way.

Where's the TMO??
I really can't get over Thierry Henry, the way he celebrated as though he had done nothing wrong. It seems that since last Friday the French have really started to annoy me. My Mom's side of the family is Irish and I would have prefered the fun Irish fans coming to South Africa over the French.
Enough moaning though... this is a prime example why football should adopt a TMO (television match official). With all the appealing from the Irish team it would have been an obvious decision and taken about 45 seconds as the referee stopped play, went upstairs and got told that it is not a goal. Come on FIFA, your use of technology is about ten years behind all other sport codes.

UPDATE: I read an article at goal.com that asks should Henry be punished. Damn good question and I say yes. I have the same reasons in that if he is not held accountable then other players will believe that too can get away with cheating. As with a player being cited in rugby after a game, players found cheating should be given some form of punishment.

Garmin Wildebeest
I have been a bit scarce for the past few months and there are several reasons for that.
Firstly, I have been busy with work finishing a couple commercials and starting a few more.
Secondly, the Currie Cup has been occupying my free time. BULLE!

Anyway, one fun job that I was on shoot for was the Wildebeest ad for Garmin. Directed by Slim from Egg films, it shows how the Gnus actually get to their destination during their arduous migration.

I will try and get a better quality version soon.
I also have an amazing clip showing the technical aspect of the shoot. It's a behind the scenes of the water shot showing how we did. Using cutting edge technolgy - animatronics, wave machines and much more - AFRICAN style.
